No Time for Patience Empty No Time for Patience

Amie was a pretty happy guy, and he was enjoying life. He had a friend he was developing more of a crush on. He wasn’t going to think about that. Nope. Nope. It wasn’t Amie. None of that. Besides, he had no idea when he was going to see him again. He never knew. His leg was mostly healed up by now. He wasn’t even limping around anymore. He friend had been on a trip and Amie got to help out in his absence. Well that was done and Amie was back on the road. He spent so long on the road, really. It was his thing, right? He loved the open road because it felt safe, but he loved home because it was safe. Well since he ran into the bandits, and nearly killed them, he didn’t feel quite as safe at home. No, it was safe, because he knew his guild could easily take on any amount of bandits. Safety in numbers. Still, he just felt like getting away from there for a short time. He wanted to clear his head. He needed to just think for himself and figure it out. Safety in numbers pushed aside for the time being, he lucked into finding someone else who probably should have listened to that “safety in numbers” mantra.

No Time for Patience Empty Re: No Time for Patience

Somewhere in the middle of walking Amie saw someone running. Well, maybe he did have numbers in a sense. He had five men following him. Uh, that’s never a good sign, he thought. They weren’t bandits either. Those were paladins. He felt his shoulder raise up slightly and his hands at his sides close some. He didn’t know for sure anything bad was going to happen, but he wasn’t really keen on just watching and waiting.

The running male seemed to be a teenager, maybe, or maybe he just looked young. Amie narrowed his eyes at the scene, watching him run by, and soon fall. Amie wouldn’t have called it tripping, but when someone cast a small explosion at someone else’s feet, it was expected that would fall. He tensed up. Don’t interact with the authorities. Never interact with the authorities. That was what ran through his head. It was some guy, doing something… and they were dealing with it. A man with a bounty on his head for things he hadn’t even done did not need to get involved. It was a worse price to pay than just feeling anxious. Still, he stood there. The male was too close to him for him to avoid notice, and as the Paladins closed in, Amie heard all he needed.

Step away from the Guildless mage. We’re apprehending him.

**** you are, Amie thought, tensing. “What did he do?” Yeah, guildess, screw that. Amie didn’t care. He’d have been guildless just as likely as Lamia Scale. He just happened to find a home there, but he sure wasn’t going to hold it against anyone else.

Attacking Paladins in his escape,” one said, being only slightly helpful. Well duh he attacked people trying to grab him. Seriously? Are you stupid? And then another of the paladins made quite the interesting remark. “Hopefully his sentence is on the more severe end.

Do all you guys like being thugs? And here I thought it was just a rumor,” Amie said, bristling with anger. He didn’t like the authorities, not one bit, but more so he hated bandits. These guys were effectively both. It was just too much to pass up. They turned to him.

You need to move along if you don’t want trouble. This is your one warning,” one of them said.

Yeah, yeah, warnings, those are boring,” he said, grinning now. That was how he warned people. And in a second he flew at the man, landing a firm Basic Power Punch on him in the face. He didn’t know the guy, he didn’t know these paladins, and he didn’t know if he was going to lose the fight, but man was he bored waiting around to make a decision.

Man, fighting a group of paladins sounded like such a good idea never. Amie got his punch off, and a kick to the back of the knees and a shift elbow drive down before he felt a blast in his back. Burning, Ow, ow, ow! He was knocked forward, almost like he was pushed over a chair, except in this case it was the body of the paladin he was in the process of knocking down. He hit the ground with one arm and flipped over to jump up. Technically he looked like he hadn’t used any spells. All he’d done was swing a very, very powerful punch, but these guys weren’t taking any chances apparently.

He pulled his blazer off, left with just his button down shirt which missed the singe of the fire spell. “Oh, heating it up are we?” he asked with a laugh, the desire to fight rising. He wasn’t just angry now, now he was excited. He was a one hit punch kind of a guy, and he knew his mobility was desperately weakened due to his recent injury. Yes, it was healed, but he wasn’t risking anything too severe. This was not dangerous. Yet. There was plenty of time for that.

With a quick Long Jump kicked against the ground Amie was off. Like a bullet straight at the mage who, clearly, had just cast a fireball at him. It was just like bandits, except he wasn’t sure who he wanted to beat to a pulp more. He landed on the guy, tumbling forward and rolling several feet with him before they came to a stop. He threw a right hook with his second basic power punch and a plain left upper cut before jumping off the guy. Two down, three to go, Gah! and Amie jumped to the side a little father, just managing to avoid a thick wind slice. He turned back to see a paladin holding what appeared to be a large silvery boomerang. It was swirling like to be made of wind. That struck him as odd for a split second, before his eyes got wide and he realized he was about to be struck with something else.

Amie saw the sky far too directly in front of him as his legs were swept out from under him in the pull of the returning wind boomerang. He hit the ground on his back with only the noise of air escaping his body. Great…Round two!” he said with his grin back on, springing to his feet despite the sharp pain in his leg. It would be fine, he was having too much fun right now.

Apparently long range wasn’t everyone’s forte. How fun, they weren’t all going to stand back and let him pick them off? Cool. Amie realized all of this the moment he counted two instead of three men looking at him. Oh, but a Paladin would never be that sneaky, would they? Thick Skin cast, and Amie’s skin crystalized just before he swung an arm backwards.

The not at all sneaky Paladin’s sword came slicing into Amie’s shoulder just too late. His arm swinging back knocked the blade over slightly and he was able to grab the hilt, the sword now parallel with his back. He swung around, his whole body spinning as he threw a real Power Strike at his opponent. A blow like that to the face didn’t do quite as much blunt power as his basic power punches, but the first engulfing his fist made easy contact with the man’s face. Besides, it was always nice to see them blast off backwards when he made impact. He couldn’t help but laugh. He probably looked like a public menace, but it was just funny. “What was I saying about thugs?” he asked as he turned to the men, dropping the sword. He had no use for it. They looked extremely fed up with his antics, but what could he do? He wasn’t about to become boring like them.

Amie had a plan. Ew, plans? No, he actually could plan. He didn’t do it very often. He wanted to take out the guy with the boomerang, but there was his plan. Two left. The other guy hadn’t done anything yet. What was he up to? Amie stared at him. He could feel his fists clenching and unclenching. The guy he’d been protecting was still on the ground, and still out. Apparently that trip had landed him on his head or something. For all Amie knew he was crazy. He was a total waste of space. It wasn’t Amie’s place to judge a man he didn’t know. What was his place was to fight people who were doing something he didn’t like. Fighting was all his. Now… what did that guy do? He almost got out his fingers to count, until he realized. “Why am I so stupid today?!” Amie snapped, mostly to himself, running forward as he saw what looked like innocent pebbled near him. He got just out of range before they started exploding. “No, no, no, no!” he kept saying as he ran, the pebbled apparently following him and wanting to explode just right to trip him. He was lucky he was agile. Unlucky was that shooting pain in his leg.

He ran straight for the man, who looked like he wasn’t doing a thing. Well he was doing something, and Amie knew it. When he got close enough the man tossed a handful of what looked like jacks in Amie’s direction. They exploded on contact but Amie’s sustained thick skin blocked the blows. His protection was gone, sure, but he was still sprinting forward. The momentum and a small jump in the air gave Amie just the right angle to land another basic power punch. He wasn’t playing games right now, and he knew that the last Paladin knew it. He jumped to the side to avoid the first strike of a wind boomerang, causing it to hit the bomb paladin. Apparently that caused the last paladin to send his second boomerang, no longer concerned with hitting his friend. “You seriously suck!” Amie said, insulting him for his lack of concern, and not his aim.

When he was missed this time he took a small run forward. The boomerang caught up to him just as he hoped it would, but before it could hit him he made a kick down, knocking the boomerang down and himself forward and up as he hit that and the solid ground beneath him. This was apparently not a tactic the paladin had learned yet, as he seemed frantic to come up with another spell now that his sustained weapons were unavailable. Too late. Amie came down on him with one last Power Punch. The fire, impact, and power all did their job, but his smashing straight down into the earth was what really knocked the guy out.

Amie dusted himself off and went to grab his blazer. “Poor Blazer… I’ll just buy a new one. Why don’t we have magic sewing wizards around? I mean come on! They’d make a killing…” He was busy mumbling to himself as he walked over to the guy. He crouched down, swearing slightly as he figured out that was a bad idea. Okay, over exerting himself was bad. But really, how long before he was fully fine? He was not a guy who could sit still for any amount of time.

He managed to rouse the younger male, who immediately pushed Amie away, shouting something. “You’re high strung.

And you’re scum, so leave me alone!

I am? Man, and I thought I bathed today,” Amie said, glancing at his hands, which were admittedly dirtied from the fight.

Leave me alone!

You know I’m not a paladin right? Or does that matter?” Apparently it did, because the man looked at him suspiciously. “Look? See the paladins? They’re all napping,” he shrugged. Sure, he beat them up, sure they would be hurt, but what did it matter. They brought it upon themselves.

Uh…. thanks… then… are you going to let me leave?” he asked, not trusting Amie at all, but trying to avoid a fight.

Sure. You don’t owe me money or anything like that. Its nice weather. You might even have a lovely afternoon,” he said, getting to his feet. The younger man stood as well, injured but not willing to take help.

Uh… sure… thanks…” he said awkwardly, before walking away. He was slow, probably due to falling, but Amie figured he would be alright. He walked off the other direction, whistling to himself.
