Weeks of information gathering and putting together clues from virtually nothing had left him more or less exhausted. Still it hadn't been for nothing. Despite the fact that it had been something of a scavenger hunt, it had led him to Akane resort island of all places. Evidently some shadow heart big shot was there, and big shots tended to have knowledge of inner workings. This meant he might be able to pin down a location for the shadow lord so they could initiate their battle. In the interim, this new target was meant to be his golden idol and as such he sucked up his discomfort and took the boat to the resort island.

Upon his arrival he debated between making preparations and simply going in. After some deliberation he decided to proceed forward and draw whatever conclusions he needed from what happened. It was a hotel here that they were using and they had purchased an entire floor. It was a pretty obvious base of operations, but that was probably why they hadn't been caught just yet. If his security staff were involved then they were probably watching the area around the hotel. Since gaining some of the notoriety from Kade's loud mouth and his own loud mouth from the incident on the tournament island he was pretty easily recognizable and that worked out badly for him. when doing stuff like this. Obviously a disguise was in order.

First thing was first, he needed a cover. He happily checked out a room and bought a pair of swim trunks for the indoor pool. Sunglasses helped and he used that and a loose red shirt with leaves on it that he left unbuttoned. Disguise in place he headed out to figure a way into the upper floors. A fight would have been nice as a distraction, but he didn't count on random chance.

Preliminary interviews of the hotel staff showed him they were loathe to talk about the upper floors, but they didn't get too deflective until one started asking about rooms above the casino. It was difficult to move that conversation along being as young as he was, but it wasn't exactly going to clear up any time soon so he had to just power through. When everything was said and done he knew exactly where they were but he didn't have any plans to get there.
"Jeeze one would think they would have some way up to at least the casino." He said out loud, but to himself.

The Ace of Blue Pegasus let out a sigh as she stared up into the blue skies at the top of the hotels at Akane Resort. She’d been doing a lot of traveling and ‘field research’ on the two major bad guys in Fiore since she became the Ace, but she hadn’t exactly planned on coming here. Not until she heard that something was going down here under the radar, and that someone related to one of her guild mates could be in trouble because of it. As the newly appointed Ace, she had to do what she could for her guild mates.

As she walked up the walkway towards the hotel, she lowered her gaze to look at what was going on below the skyline. She’d decided that more than likely, anyone in such an obvious hiding place would at least have the decency to stay away from the highest or lowest floor, so it wouldn’t be a simple matter of getting in, it would also be a matter of figuring out which floor it was.

In front of her, a kid with white hair and clothes that practically screamed “I’m a tourist!” was talking to one of the members of the security staff. She stopped, listing into the conversation for a moment. The kid was asking questions about the security, but obviously no security guard worth his salt was giving the time of day to a kid asking questions like that. As he walked off, she heard him mutter something she couldn’t quite make out. She was pretty sure he was mentioning something about ‘finding a way up’ though, and it amused her that some kid was trying to get into the casino for a little bit of underage gambling. She doubted he’d be allowed on the floor without supervision.

Then again, she didn’t exactly look like a tourist, herself, and she needed something to fit in if she wasn’t going to look like someone snooping about. She took a quick trip to the nearby shop that seemed to be set up to prey on people who weren’t well prepared. It had everything she needed in it. Looking around, she bought a two-piece bikini, some short shorts, and a button-up blouse, along with a set of sunglasses.

She emerged from the changing room, wearing the bathing suit, short shorts, and the shirt unbuttoned. The sunglasses were on top of her head. She made her way towards the casino. She stopped when she saw the kid still looking around. “Persistent…” she chuckled. He might make a good accessory though… or at least be able to help her come up with a way inside. “Hey, kid!” she waved at him, approaching with a grin on her face. “Looking for a way in? Me too. Cerys Whitman, Ace of Blue Pegasus… as of a couple of weeks ago.” She held out her hand for a handshake as she introduced herself.

Tatsuma looked at the girl curiously, but that was only to hide his suspicions. She looked to be telling the truth though as he noticed the guild tattoo on her stomach. Evidently she hadn't recognized him yet. It meant she either didn't watch T.V. or hadn't been a member for extremely long. Given that she was the Ace, he factored that it was more likely his disguise was effective.
"I'm Tatsuma Shinju of Fairy Tail." He said as he extended his right hand, the black guild tattoo showing as he did. Still her introduction had left him with more than a few questions. First and foremost though, he needed to figure out how she was going to work with him. If she was the Ace she probably had some combat ability, but he wondered anymore about them or where his strength stood with theirs. That meant that it wasn't guaranteed, but it also occurred to him that he was over thinking it. The chances of the Shadow Lord himself being here weren't exactly high and it wouldn't end up making a difference.

After taking a few seconds to think everything over he opted to go ahead and accept her... well her wording lead him to the conclusion she was asking for help or at least offering to join their efforts.
"Yes. So far the hotel staff refuses to say anything, but the degree to which they refuse information still gave enough for me to determine roughly what floor I need to get to. Up until the 150th floor they get kind of on edge but anything higher than that they seem to get quiet. That leaves 54 floors to search. Watching the floors at night will give us more insight. Minus the higher floors.. because no one is that stupid, there should be a floor with more lights on than others. That should be where the boss is at. Below that there should be another floor with a few lights, I'm assuming body guards. Two or three more floors should be dark most of the time and below that another floor with more lights on. I'm guessing the dark floors in between the two that are lit up should be the floors where they're keeping any weapons, items, or profits where they are keeping their stuff." He explained. It was all the information he had managed to gather thus far and speculate on his own based on typical criminal behavior. He had always had a knack for thinking like them anyway.
"The main problem is getting past the 150th floor. But I'm sure you've already figured all this out yourself." He said with a smile. He had worked most of it out, but besides climbing the damn building, he didn't have a way up to the floors, especially since he wasn't exactly going to be able to waltz right into the casino.

After sharing all of the information he had been able to accrue on his own he looked at Cerys with wondering eyes. He had shared everything in good faith, but he had no way of determining whether or not she was ready to figure a way to get them in.
"Soooo you have a plan of your own right?" He asked.

Cerys shook Tatsuma’s hand. “Tatsuma Shinju, eh? The lightning dragon slayer. I’ve heard a lot about you.” As her hand fell to her side, she adopted a more serious look. Whether she knew any of the worse rumors being spread around, she didn’t indicate. Her baby blue eyes appraised him while he told her what he knew about the situation. She’d only just arrived less than an hour ago, and hadn’t had time to gain any of this information herself.

When he stopped and asked if she had a plan of her own, she gave him a nonchalant grin, placing her hands on her hips. “I just got here, but I’m pretty good at thinking on my feet,” she told him, looking back up again. “I can get into the casino no problem, unless they’re under orders not to let Blue Pegasus in to make them some money. That means if you come with me, you should be able to waltz in as well. You can be my cousin or something. I don’t really care,” she shrugged as she looked back down at Tatsuma.

“The other floors are still in use, right? If we can bluff or sneak our way to a floor near the one we’re looking for, I think we can find a way to the correct floor from there. I'll go in pretending to gamble. I think once we're in you should be able to wander off while they're not paying attention and get a look around. I’m not too familiar with the place though, so I’m having to think of things as I get a look at them. I was hoping you'd be more familiar, or at least be good cover. Unfortunately I was never able to come here on an actual vacation,” she chuckled at the irony of the last part, considering she was dressed like she meant to be here for a while. “That’s what I’ve got so far,” she told him as her arms fell to her sides and she leaned to try to peek inside the door of the entrance as someone exited.

Oh well that did it. She now knew more about him than he was ready to tell. Still he was starting to get used to it by this point. It was discouraging that she didn't have any information. He had only been there about thirty minutes himself, but corroborating his story was going to take quite a few more hours of work. Still, he was pretty good about thinking on his feet too, but he wasn't going to tell her that this was just a step forward for his over all goal. Something occurred to him though as she spoke. Neither one of them knew why the other was trying to get up there. He wanted to ask but it would be something of a dangerous game with her being able to return the question.
" What brings you here to do this? I know you want to go up too, but since we're depending on each other for this I guess reasons are kind of important." He said innocently enough. It wasn't that he needed to keep it a secret, at least not from Blue Pegasus, but the less people that knew, the better, and too many people already knew what it was he was doing.
"Also ideally it would be good to rent a room close to the top, but when I tried that earlier the highest I got was floor 130. I'm sure there's rooms checked out above that, but there has to be a criteria so I would guess it has to be Shadow Heart guild members, mafia members, and stuff like that." He explained as he assumed a more casual stance. There was too much riding on not botching this. He had gone this long trying to get hold of some sort of clue, it wasn't about to just slip through his fingers.

Cerys’s gaze returned to approximately where Tatsuma was pointing out when he asked why she was there to get into Shadow heart’s little base of operations. The wind blew her blouse a bit as she made a slightly thoughtful face. She had a feeling she could trust Tatsuma. “They’ve got some people they’re holding in there, one of which is very close to a guild mate of mine. I couldn’t just let it go when they asked me for help,” she admitted, thinking of how she’d been dragged off to be begged for help the moment she’d arrived in Blue Pegasus’s guild hall a few days before.  “Are you here for them, or for the guy in charge?”

She returned her gaze to him for a second, but turned to the door. He could talk while they walked. He suggested renting a room, saying that 130 was the highest they could get. It sounded like they were going to have to improvise a bit. She turned, her head back to him, though she was walking slightly in front. “Then we’re just going to have to get as high as we can,” she told him with a confident grin.

The pair walked up to the front desk. Cerys plopped her bag of jewels on the front desk and leaned on it just enough to be distracting to the clerk, if that was possible. “My cousin and I would really like a room for a few days,” she told them. “The higher the better,” she gave the man a wink and let out a cheerful giggle. She wasn’t actually much of a manipulator, but she was hoping that being a cute young woman instead of a teenage boy with no business in a casino would get her better luck.

“130 is the highest we can get miss,”
the man said, possibly wishing he could do better. Shadow Heart must have paid well. “Damn,” she cursed as the two walked away from the desk, the key to their room on floor 130 in Cerys’s hand. “Looks like we’ll have to find another way to get higher. For now though, we’ll go with the plan. I’ll stay down here and look around. Take the key and see what you can find out. We’ll meet up and decide on the plan from there,” Cerys decided, pushing her hair out of her right eye with one hand as she handed the key to Tatsuma with the other.

He regarded her question. It was difficult to be honest about it when he definitely had something to hide, but giving the truth about that might prevent further questioning. She had charged him with her trust and he felt inclined to do the same.
"I'm after their boss. He had information that I need, after I get that I'll turn him in to-" That was right. he had forgotten about the magic council splitting. He had no idea exactly who to turn the guy in to.
"I'll turn him in to Charlotte Argon of the magic council and only her." He said confidently.

Tatsuma resisted a smirk when her plan to get them above 130 backfired. She'd done pretty much the same thing he had, only she'd done it with sex appeal whereas he had tried innocence. Still the exchange showed him she wasn't acclimated to psychological assessment. Once they were far enough away from the desk and he took the opportunity to share a plan he had.
"You know when people are uncomfortable they try to get rid of the source of that discomfort. Your plan might have worked better if you'd used something more intimate than cousin. Plus they already saw me up there once when I tried to get a room." He said very matter-of-factly. It was at least the way he would have handled it himself, but she was probably more experienced in other areas so he expected to learn something himself by the end of this whole ordeal. Still it was hard for him to disregard her plan as it stood. He wasn't sure what all she was going to find down here but he decided to trust her judgement.
"Alright I'll head upstairs now and see what I can find out, but if I have to get a little violent an there's a bit of a ruckus that should be your chance to come get me. If it comes down to it I'll let myself get captured, that should get me closer to the floor and I'll use that to try to capture my objective." He explained, going a little more in depth. "If I resist capture for a bit they should call for more personnel and that should give you an opening to come up." He said, keeping in mind his reputation for working alone that should have gotten them more relaxed when he was captured.
"Is that good?" He asked.

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Cerys wasn’t all that familiar with Miss Charlotte Von Argon, truth be told. She knew who she was. Everyone knew who Argon’s two children were, especially now with the talk of the split in the family. With the split, however, had come two things – Mordekai’s betrayal, and Charlotte running off on her own, putting her out of reach of Cerys, who was now one of the liaisons between Blue Pegasus and the so-called Magic Council Loyalists. “Well then, we take down their boss, I don’t have to worry about what he’ll do to the captives. It sounds like we’ll both benefit from working together,” she decided.

As Tatsuma took the key and told her how she ‘should’ have handled it, Cerys blushed slightly and covered her chest by folding her arms. “I’ve never tried that before. I’m not normally that kind of woman,” she shrugged as she started looking around. She’d figured maybe it would help and she was trying to be creative. Apparently she needed to stick to her strengths. She’d remember that later; she didn’t plan to get better at this.

As Tatsuma told her his plan, Cerys was looking around the casino floor. She didn’t know what she’d find down here, if anything, but she figured she was the one who could linger here, so they might as well cover their bases. “That works,” she told Tatsu with a nod. “I’ll be on the lookout for security to move. Otherwise, come back and meet me down here.”

With that, Cerys walked one way while Tatsu made his way upstairs. She walked around, pretending to be trying to decide if she wanted to play various games, but mostly like she was taking in the casino before going with Tatsuma to the room. As she scanned, she saw people in suits, but nothing more suspicious. No one was being given preferential treatment or anything, and in fact, anyone down here already didn’t seem to be worrying about whatever was going on upstairs. “I hope Tatsuma has better luck than me…” Cerys mumbled as she sat down at the slots to make herself look busy while she watched.

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Post by Tatsuma Wed Oct 29, 2014 3:31 pm

Tatsuma did as bidden, heading to the elevator and to the 130th floor. It was certainly possible to get higher, but not using the elevator. When inside he had attempted to get higher but the elevator control panel had a lock on it that prevented him from ascending any higher. That explained the reluctance to allow them to a higher floor, which meant that Cerys had handled the situation correctly after all since it was very likely that their plan would have backfired and the Shadow Heart boss would know they were there if he didn't already. In that case it would have gone better if they hadn't been so insistent. He should have done some scouting first, that was on him, but that was going to have to be a lesson learned, it would be too late to do anything about it now anyway.

As a preliminary measure he entered the elevator a second time to attempt to access the top of the cell by going through the roof, but there was no way to achieve that without actually damaging the top. Someone had welded it shut and he surmised that he was going to have to approach the top of the elevator when it was below him. That was especially dangerous since there would be no escape. The stairs were blocked, so that method wouldn't work. The only thing he could think of was to try to climb the damn building.
"Lovely..." He thought to himself as he headed back downstairs.

As the elevator descended from the 130th floor to the first, Tatsu considered the implications of climbing the building. If they were smart enough to have outside spotters. He would be vulnerable and it was hardly ideal. With that born in mind he hit the stop button on the elevator, accessing the 125th floor and headed toward the stairs. To his surprise there were no guards and he realized their security flaw. Even if there were guards in the stairwell he should be able to take those out silently and move up to the higher floors. It was genuinely surprising and he took full advantage of it.

After ascending three floors of stairs there were unguarded he ran into his first hurdle. There were patrols going up and down the stairs another floor up. He closed his eyes and focused purely on their bioelectrical signatures. Watching in this manner allowed him to see them without them seeing him and use that to his advantage. He watched them for a few minutes as they went up to the next floor and then back down to the one they were on. Tatsu maintained this method of watching as he climbed onto the bannister of one of the stairs. From that point he climbed onto the next bannister as they ascended to the next level. After that he shimmied up the bannister, hanging off and climbing up to the next level, stopping only to let the apparently complacent guards pass him by as he climbed up over the railing and onto the stairs.

He stepped to the next upper levels and managed to get to floor 134 without further incident. It would be simpler to just fight his way higher up but he wasn't going to continue this floor by floor sneaking mission. It was time to get some attention so that Cerys could do her part of the deal. Instead of waiting for the guards to find him, he anticipated there would be more guards higher up and continued accordingly, knocking out the guards that were scattered about. By the 145th floor he had found his contingent of guards. Some of them had weapons, some didn't, but none of them looked like they were going to let him off without a beating.

Briefly his mind flashed back to his time in the elevator. He had placed a slight burn over the 135 button in the shape of a flight of stairs. That was going to have to be enough of a clue and he hoped Cerys would pick up on it. He couldn't think of any other way for her to pinpoint what floor he was on, but he maintained hope as he waited for the cavalry.

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Post by Cerys Whitman Wed Oct 29, 2014 8:55 pm

Cerys… might have gotten a bit carried away in the casinos while Tatsuma was up doing the hard work. Once she’d found that she wasn’t going to discover anything, her gambling habit kicked in, and she’d decided “One little game of blackjack wouldn’t hurt…” Of course, that was fifteen games of Blackjack ago, and she was now very nearly out of money. No one ever said she was a lucky or talented gambler, after all.

As she walked away from the table, feeling a bit depressed at how far she’d let that whole thing go, she noticed security moving towards the elevators. Cerys perked up, a grin appearing on her face as her baby blue eyes fixated on the new gamble – that Tasuma had found his mark.

The doors of the elevator opened, and eight security guards stepped in, along with a nonchalant-looking guild Ace in the back. “Hey boys,” she told them in casual greeting. That was when the doors shut. By the time the doors opened at the hundred and twenty-fifth floor, the walls were splashed with blood, Cerys’s eyes now a matching shade of red. There was no blood on her, however, and her targets lay unconscious – she hadn’t wanted to kill any security guards who she couldn’t prove were in Shadow Heart, after all.

“Let’s hope that symbol meant what I think it meant,” the young woman mumbled as she hurried up the flight of stairs. Finally, she arrived at the hundred and thirty fifth, floor, hearing the sound of quite the magical scuffle going on. It sounded like Tatsuma was doing a decent job, but she’d promised backup, so backup he would have. The Ace threw open the door, seeing an electrically-charged, rather large man slam into the wall. Beside her. She looked down at him, blinking casually. “Huh. So you sure you need my help?” she asked the ivory-haired teen who was facing off against a rather large group.

Of course he did. It wouldn’t do for the dragon slayer to use up his magic fighting lackeys when he was after a bigger fish. Cerys didn’t wait for an answer. Instead, a bloody mist started swirling around her arm, and with a gesture, a blood grenade went off, taking out another few of the guards as strangely effective ‘shrapnel’ struck them. “Let’s hurry this up,” she told Tatsuma. “It wouldn’t do to keep the big man waiting when he’s already entertaining guests.”

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Tatsuma eyed the remaining guys. This would have been done already if he wasn't trying so hard not to kill them. His original plan had been for them to take him to his boss with them believing he was firmly restrained. It was troublesome, but it appeared they were going to have to fight their way up now.
"It's not like I can't take them out, it's just difficult to do it without killing them. I don't entirely have the control and some of my spells are a bit on the destructive side." He explained. He eyed them quickly and shrugged his shoulders before sweeping back his haori and placing his hands, palm out, towards the remaining bodyguards... Then dropped them. He couldn't use that spell, not against them, not if he was going to get away without having to kill anyone. If he were alone and it were more justifiable he might have gone ahead, but he wasn't and he couldn't. Still, this was why he had spent more time training non-magical skills than most mages bothered to. He had found that when he plateaued as a magic user, he was often able to overcome that by augmenting skills hat he built outside of his magic use.

He rushed forward with no spell charged, adeptly dodging to the left as a strike came from that direction from a baseball bat. He gripped it and spun quickly, his foot movements taking him back into center mass of the opponent as another attack lanced toward him. One of the guys used a fireball and Tatsu, left hand still on the bat, gripped the person holding it with his right hand and flipped him into the trajectory of the fireball. Another strike from the second person that attacked him with  weapon was met with the baseball bat, which Tatsuma now had full control of, as he used the bottom of the bat to strike the person in side of the head, yet another weapon found it's way into Tatsuma's hand and he throw the bat at the person using the fireball, striking him in the head with it as he ducked under a punch from the guy who he had struck with the bat first. Tatsu's foot connected with his ankle and as the guy fell he grabbed his head, hand lined up with the opposite side of the guy's jaw as he slammed his head into the floor. Finally he zipped forward, grabbing the fireball user and slammed him against the wall, lightning claws forming at the tips of his fingers mere milimeters from the guy's throat.
"You have a chance to save your life and the life of your cohorts. Where is it that I can find your boss, which floor, and how many people does he have with him?" He demanded in a cold, methodical voice. It was a bluff, he had no intention of killing the guy, but if Cerys didn't know that it would help for her to argue it.

It was apparently difficult for Tatsuma to not kill someone with his magic. That caused a humorless smirk to cross Cerys’s face as she eyed the woman who had decided to target the Blue Pegasus Ace. A dagger came out of nowhere, aimed straight at Cerys’s abdomen. A small explosion sent the dagger going an entirely different direction, sailing into the wall to Cerys’s right. With a clinch of her fist, a whip of blood appeared, which Cerys used to pull dagger girl closer. That same dagger girl flew the opposite direction of her dagger as a bigger explosion went off in front of Cerys’s left hand.

This was an interesting fight, but Cerys had no love of fighting, and she certainly had no time or love to spare for the Shadow Heart lackeys that thought they could overcome two young wizards. This wasn’t the first time Cerys had had to cut loose recently, and she was hardly out of practice. Lackey after lackey was swiftly dispatched, sailing in all directions as a combination of flame and blood (sometimes combined into a single spell) sent them just as swiftly away from their target.

Cerys didn’t use her blood magic like most would; she refused to give into its sinister power, and had developed her skills in a rather different direction. Rather than simply powering other spells, she used it as its own spell, harnessing her own magical power found in her blood to create powerful attacks and fuel both itself and the explosion magic she had later learned.  The downside was, blood itself didn’t materialize out of nowhere. Fortunately, as her opponents bled, it became easier to use without drawing on her own reserves. Also fortunately, her more recent mastery of her other magical power meant she relied on it less.

Before she knew it, the battle was over, and any blood that had landed on Cerys seemed to vanish in a white light, giving her back some of the energy she’d used in the fight. As she let out a sigh, she used her magic to stop her wrist from bleeding just as easily as she’d caused it to flow, tracing a line across it with her fingernail. As she did, Tatsuma went into bad cop mode, threatening to kill the guy who’d been slinging fire earlier – that is, if he didn’t answer everything the dragon slayer had asked. Cerys grinned a nonchalant grin as Tatsuma threatened, placing her hands on her hips. “The kid’s crazy. You aught to have seen what I saw downstairs on his way up here. Those guys didn’t die quickly, let me tell you.” She chuckled at her own lie. The chuckle was sinister. It was a bit forced, but the man was probably too intimidated to tell the difference.

"Tell him what he wants,” Cerys told the man Tatsuma was holding. As she did, her red aura enveloped a man who was hurt worse than fire guy. The guy slammed into the wall, held up by magic and Cerys’s outstretched hand. “Trust me, I know exactly how long it takes for a man to bleed out and die in pure agony,” she told him with that strangely sinister grin. It was mostly true, she had a sense of the blood level of herself and everyone nearby thanks to her magic. She’d never killed anyone before though. “You bastards hurt a lot of people we cared about. We could easily make sure you pay for every drop of blood that was spilled."

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Post by Tatsuma Fri Oct 31, 2014 10:44 pm

Well that kind of changed things. Either she had seen through him, had ascertained that he wasn't actually going to kill the guy based on the fact he had refused to use his magic to kill them earlier, or was genuinely assured he would kill the guy and didn't care. Either way it was enough to give him what he needed from the guy. The additional prodding from her was all that was needed.
"He's up on the 145th floor. We have the people we took on the 140th, we don't get paid enough for this!" He said, looking at the girl. He was left wondering if it was his threats or Cerys' but at this point it didn't matter (besides it was probably the latter). Without another word, he slammed the back of the fireball user's head against the wall and moved upward.
"Well that wasn't so bad..." He said, wondering why it had been more or less easy at this point. The body guards were a joke, he wasn't sure exactly who their boss thought he was going to have to defend against, but no one in any position of power was that lax about their security. That must have meant that the actual guards, the ones with real skill at least, were waiting for them upstairs. He started to take off, but stopped suddenly and walked back to the fireball user, checking his pockets for some sort of card key. He found two and a ring with four actual keys on it, all of which he pocketed.

Ascending the stairs got them up to the 139th floor but an elevator key was required for the next floor and another for the next ten after that. He wasn't sure what exactly they should be expecting to find but he put the card key in the slot to get to the 139th floor and handed the physical keys to Cerys.
"I'm going to go ahead and assume these are for the rooms they're keeping the people in. Once we get there you can go rescue them. I'll head up and grab my target." He said, finishing as the elevator dinged on the floor. He handed her the card keys once it got there and waited for her response.

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Post by Cerys Whitman Sat Nov 01, 2014 12:07 am

“I didn’t actually think you’d kill them,” Cerys chuckled after she’d used her magic to put the man in her grip into a sort of sleeper hold. That kind of fine control was only possible if she was actually using her own spilt blood rather than simply harnessing the mana found in it. She took out a bandage, binding her wrist. There wasn’t any point in healing it if she might still need the full use of her power. She also needed to not bleed out in the meantime though, thus the bandage for now. “Though admittedly… I wouldn’t have blamed you after what I’ve learned of Fairy Tail.”

While Tatsuma picked the pockets of the man he’d been interrogating, Cerys made sure the others were unconscious. None of them were dead, though several had burn marks from the pair’s magical powers. She then followed Tatsuma up to the 139th floor, where the younger man stopped, handing the physical key to Cerys and saying he was going after his target. "They're sure to be a bit more challenging closer to the boss," Cerys warned, since she couldn't read Tatsuma's mind. “I’ll free the people, but after that I’m coming to help you in case you need it. We're not letting your mark escape.” She extended her hand to Tatsuma for a handshake. “In the meantime, good luck, dragon slayer.”

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Post by Tatsuma Sat Nov 01, 2014 10:18 pm

It was good they had the same thought process, he was probably going to need a rescue party. He wasn't sure exactly what she meant by what she had learned from Fairy Tail, but he figured that, given her demeanor towards him he couldn't really say she had learned anything bad.
"Yeah come rescue me, I don't really want to die here." He teased with a smile. Once she was off, he moved toward his real destination. It was going to be a bit more challenging... or a lot more challenging, but he was ready to handle it. He wouldn't be able to fight the shadow lord without being able to capture this guy first. Plus there was information that he needed.

The moment the elevator stopped on the 145th floor, it became evident that someone was awake downstairs because there were guys waiting for him. Unlike with the gentlemen downstairs who had more or less fallen down as expected, these guys were using various magics, and that made them dangerous. One of them opened up with an attack, and Tatsu dodge rolled out of the way to find a section of the elevator wall busted open. There was no problem with his hand, it had just caved in a section of steel, but it was still dangerous. The second guy threw a lightning bolt at him and Tatsu ducked out of the way of that too... Wait! Lightning bolt?!? Well he had an edge on the one of them. That meant he knew which one to take out first. Another punch was thrown his way and as he ducked under it a lightning bolt launched itself at him. He took the bolt and shook it off as he used the momentum to take himself forward and out of the way of another attack. He acted woozy for a moment and as another punch launched itself toward him the same lightning claws he had used earlier. As a kick lanced toward his head he ducked under it with his claws extended above him, the force of the kick itself carried the claws through the Achilles tendon and most of the calf. As the man screamed in pain Tatsuma forced a claw into the man's brachial plexus and watched at he fell unconscious. Then as a wave of lightning lanced at him he ate it, and looked at the lightning mage's confused expression as he pointed his palms outward.
"Rairyu No Tsubasa!" He roared as his own powerful wave of electromagnetic energy created a concussive burst that launched the guy backwards, through a wall, and landed unconscious on a floor in a (luckily) empty room. Once that was complete, he pulled his haori forward to straighten it out and headed deeper into the building.

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Post by Cerys Whitman Mon Nov 03, 2014 11:48 am

“Don’t worry, we’ve taken care of everyone here,” Cerys comforted the people who had been bound and thrown in the locked room. She recognized the young woman that had been described to her – the neck tattoo that wasn’t related to any guild was a dead giveaway. She gave her a grin before looking around at the other people. “You should all go home from your vacations early,” she suggested. “We’re taking care of all the loose ends here.” Cerys stood up after untying everyone. “I’ll tell Uriah you’re okay,” she told the young lady. She wished she could remember the lady’s name, but she didn’t want to hold her up with any more frivolous talking.

As the people cleared out their rooms and left, Cerys made her way further upstairs. The higher she got, the louder the sound of fighting became. The wizard picked up her pace, stopping in front of the door at the 145th floor. “The cavalry is here,” she stated as she opened her palm. She wasn’t going to use the riskier part of her magic for a stupid door. Instead of the blood-like power from before, a small lance of red-tinted energy appeared in her hand, powered by the special properties in her blood. “Boom.” The lance threw open the door with a powerful blast, augmented by her explosion magic. As secure as they thought they were, no wizard as powerful as an Ace or a Dragon Slayer would be kept out of a simple hotel door that was locked.

Cerys moved inside swiftly, an explosive punch knocking aside a guy who had turned around at the sound of the door blowing open. There were more people here than she’d bargained for. Cerys was glad that she’d decided not to leave the boss here to Tatsuma. The lackies, meanwhile, didn’t take too kindly to a second intruder, with everyone nearby turning to gang up on the young woman. Cerys dodged one magically-powered punch, turned aside another with magic, and caught a third who had some sort of holder sword.

Cerys was tired of the fight already. These guys were strong, and she couldn’t afford to take too many blows here – she wasn’t exactly sturdy compared to, say, Tatsuma. Cerys’s eyes glowed red as her energy bubbled up in the same blood-red effect as before, creating a pair of butterfly-like wings that hovered just behind her back, like they were attached and yet not. Tears of blood leaked from her left eye. An explosion centered just in front of her hand sent the holder sword flying out of the man’s hand, and she swiftly kicked him, a combination of her two magics detonating and sending him flying through the wall opposite Cerys.

A wave of similar magic swept aside the second guy, though he only stumbled to the side since he’d managed to dodge the bulk of Cerys’s blow. The third guy, however, took the opportunity to counter, and Cerys took a hit to her shoulder from an earth-powered punch, sending her stumbling bac as well. She kept up her momentum though, doing a cartwheel backwards and landing about ten feet away. As she landed, she sent another blast of magical energy at her assailant, moving back another step or two since she hadn’t actually regained her footing properly. The blast was nearly dodged, but at the last moment she caused the blast to explode, sending both him and his partner into the hallway walls.

Tatsuma nodded to Cerys when she announced that the Cavalry was here. He was in serious mode though, too entrenched in what he was doing here to come up with a witty remark or snappy comeback. It was time to finish this. As he busted into the room where the target was, he recognized him from the description, and he electromagnetic field. It wasn't that hard considering the fact that he was huge. The guy dwarfed Tatsuma and was easly twice his weight.
"Raging Bull?" Tatsuma asked. It wasn't extremely necessary, he just needed to ensure he had the right person.
[color:8bad=#blue]"Who's asking?" Warren responded. The dragon slayer mentally rolled his eyes, this had turned into a game of "who the **** are you?".
"I'm a Fairy Tail guild mage trying to ascertain the location of your boss, the Shadow Lord. You'll tell me where I can find him, or give me a schedule or I'll find someone who can just extract the information from your severed head." He warned. In response Warren laughed, drawing out the fight, and, Tatsu was sure, charging up magical energy.

By this point the lightning dragon slayer had heard most of these "hey kid" speeches. The most common of these responses tended to be laughter. He honestly couldn't wait to be an adult at this point so people would get that he was legitimately threatening them. As soon as the laughter was over, Tatsu's body surged with electricity, wreathing his hands, arms, elbows, feet, shins, and knees with electrical energy which continued to surge and crackle over those areas. In addition, several more surges of electricity later, he had moved his speed up, but it wasn't maxed. If he was going to fight and beat the shadow lord, he couldn't afford to go all out against this guy.

As Warren burst forward to attack Tatsu, the dragon slayer was simply gone, suddenly counter striking with a powerful kick the Raging Bull's head. Despite the fact that it connected, and his aftershock rune showed up, the dragon slayer was bitch slapped (quite literally) across the room and into a wall. Despite the fact that he recovered by landing against the wall with both of his feet flat against it, when he dropped and spit out blood, it became clear we wasn't going to be able to take too many of those. Still, the aftershock rune did its job, shocking Warren and paralyzing him, a momentary advantage the dragon slayer took advantage of. He flashed forward, disappearing and reappearing right in front of him and attacked him, launching a series of furious attacks which he ended with a powerful and vicious kick the guy's head, before disappearing and reappearing a short distance away. As he looked at him he realized he had done minimal damage. There were bloody scuffs, burn marks, and the like all over his body, but he had not managed to do anything serious. It occurred to him then, as he looked back at the spells he had used, that he was going to have to stop holding back... the little that he was holding back at least anyway.

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Post by Cerys Whitman Tue Nov 04, 2014 12:10 am

The two thugs Cerys had been dealing with spun as they slammed off the wall, landing roughly on their faces as she strode past them. The few remaining thugs she had to go through to help Tatsuma took a step back – not just from the power she’d displayed, but also from the unnatural aura that came off of her in the current state. It wasn’t enough to force any behavior on people, but she’d learned it most certainly turned most people’s emotional state in the more ‘fearful’ direction. Fortunately for the “Raging Bull,” however, the men were too professional to just cut and run.

One of the men charged cerys again, only to go flying back into the man second nearest to Cerys. An arc of light energy slammed into Cerys as it happened, sending her stumbling back into a wall with a gasp. She was out of breath. That third guy had hit her hard. She even seemed to be bleeding more. Cerys stumbled forward again, a bit surprised to see blood on the wall behind her. Crap, she was going to need some assistance from the murderous goon if she was going to be in any shape to help Tatsuma.

Gathering her energy, she surged forward, not at the speed of Tatsuma, but certainly faster than your average person. The surge from the injured woman caught the man by surprise, and he went down, slamming his head into the wall. Reaching down, Cerys pulled the man’s knife, slicing the man’s arm. It wouldn’t kill him, but he wouldn’t feel good about it later. As the blood pooled around his arm, Cerys placed her hand in the pool, and just like that, the spilled blood and the blood that had been directly touching Cerys’s skin vanished, and she stood up reinvigorated. Her poor new shirt was a bit stained, though. Good thing she’d hidden her other clothes outside. Her wings had vanished when she'd stopped attacking, and she looked pretty normal again save for the bloodstain.

Cerys arrived to help Tatsuma just as he hit the wall, feet first. The giant man he was fighting appeared to be stunned, but he was barely hurt at all as far as Cerys could tell. Cerys took in a deep breath, centering herself. “This guy looks like he’s tougher than we bargained for,” she told Tatsuma, her stance shifting to a more defensive one for the moment as she faced Warren. “You familiar with fighting with a partner?” Cerys asked, glancing at him. She grinned as she glanced back. “Because I’m not. It's been awhile. This should be pretty interesting.” As she said that, Warren groaned, starting to get back up. Break time was over.

Tatsu whipped the blood from his mouth and smirked at Cerys. Getting too serious apparently hadn't helped.
"I think I can keep up." He said as he held his hands out to the sides. Electricity sparked and crackled, surged and covered his form before suddenly disappearing. His speed maxed out and the odd burst of lightning crackled from his body, his hair seemed to glow. He was visibly changed and very ready to finish this fight off.

He disappeared, reappearing in to Warren's right, opening his palms and striking with both of them. As soon as that connected and the electricity smashed crackled over the guy's body, he used another ability.
"Rairyu no Tsubasa." Tatsu roared as a powerful burst of concussive force burst out of his hands, launching him into the wall as he debated forcing himself forward and began using his speed in bursts to hold him there with punches and kicks so Cerys had time to act. Unfortunately after five attacks Tatsu was smacked once against across the room. What warren didn't know was that it was planned for that to happen and it left an opening for his companion. He wouldn't have been able to end him with just that, but he learned something important from this fight. He had more training to do before he could fight the shadow lord. He spit more blood and looked to his now very bruised ribs. It was definitely going to slow him down and all he could hope was that Cerys pushed finished the job.

Cerys didn’t waste any time when Tatsuma went on the offensive. While he attacked repeatedly with his incredible speed, Cerys went for a more brute force approach, since her magic didn’t boost her physical speed. As she leapt at the Raging Bull, she was swept aside despite having followed Tatsuma to try and hit him while he was vulnerable. She rolled as she hit the ground, landing on her feet and standing up even as she slid. The blow had been glancing, but it took her a moment to recover, hard as he’d hit. Tatsu had time to hit a few more times though, before he was smashed away too.

Even as he was smashed away, Cerys launched a blast straight at Warren’s face. He turned just in time to catch the blast, stumbling back. Cerys launched herself forward as he stumbled, kneeing him in the gut with explosive force. He stumbled back a few more steps – she’d hit him good twice, but her third blow was stopped with Warren’s large hand, shrugging off the third explosive blast and grabbing her around her neck. Warren grinned, seeming to forget about Tatsuma for the moment as he slammed Cerys through the nearby window, dangling her over the ledge as she struggled for breath.

Getting the show started Empty Re: Getting the show started

Post by Tatsuma Thu Nov 06, 2014 9:12 pm

As Tatsuma regained his bearings he realized the seriousness of the situation. Maybe it was the magic, maybe Tatsu hadn't finished training, maybe there was more to do, but in a moment of clarity he realized his assassination arts, the ones Rhidran had taught him to cement his survival, the ones he had mistaken her meaning about when she had told him to keep himself secret, had a place for something more than simply eliminating. The doubt he had faced with Kades accusations and Astras reactions disappeared. He still couldn't kill his target, but Cerys didn't die either.
"Lightning Scalpel." He said coolly. Combined with his speed he zipped forward, the claws on his right hand slicing through Warren's arm which detached. The mastery Tatsuma had attained allowed him to slice through concrete by this point and he used that to his advantage, catching the arm in a fluid motion with his left hand, and pulling Cerys back inside the window.

Warren looked at Tatsu, shocked that something like that had just happened. His arm was gone, there was no overcoming that, and as he recovered from the shock he instantly rushed forward, engaging in a powerful strike meant for Tatsu. The dragon slayer was gone by the time the arm got near him and the punch demolished an entire wall section of the floor. Still Tatsuma reappeared behind him, a claw stabbed into Warren's vertebral column, rendering him a paraplegic and as he spun around to swing with just his torso, Tatsuma slid two claws in behind his elbow, disabling his remaining arm and he held them to Warren's throat for but a moment.
"You will deactivate your magic and answer my questions, failure to do so will result in torture the likes of which you've never seen." He demanded before simply walking from him to check on Cerys. He hadn't had time to do so since he threw her to the side after he had rescued her. Still, he didn't know how she was going to respond to the way he had gone about doing it.
"Are you alright?" He asked, hiding his actual concern so the enemy wouldn't think him weak. It was time to get the show on the road. He wanted the information and then he would head out, using it to finally accomplish his task.

Cerys’s eyes widened as she felt herself falling, the man’s arm still attached. The arm, and by literal extension, she, was caught and dragged back up into the building. She wasn’t a fan of the arm she quickly detached herself from as she fell to the ground in a sitting position, panting heavily. “I’m… better than I could have been,” Cerys admitted as she glanced out the window. She stood up, brushing herself off, the blood that had landed on her from the severed arm vanishing as it nourished her magical reserves. She didn’t look any worse for wear despite her nearly falling off the building – unless you counted the fact her hair was a little messed up from the wind. She doubted anyone did.

Cerys knew what Tatsuma was trying to do, and since she didn’t trust her own voice at the moment, she kept quiet, deciding to frown at the man in an uncaring fashion. He was going to need someone to stop the bleeding soon, but she found herself not caring to get in Tatsuma’s way. Not that she wanted the man to die, but she’d seen what this man was so easily capable of – hurting men and women without second thought, and she suspected he already had many times. Besides, Tatsuma had said he’d locate Charlotte Von Argon and turn the man in.

After gathering the information he needed from a suddenly more sharing Warren the Raging Bull, Tatsu did as he had promised, although the damage warren had sustained would have to be healed before they could move him, and the matter of containment made the prospect rather arduous. For a moment, the dragon slayer considered just carrying him to the location he had meant to take him, but it wasn't really working out right at the moment. He could leave him to Cerys, but he didn't want her at risk either and he had a feeling that they had more or less lucked out on having taken him down. Even with Tatsu's claws he wouldn't recognized the need for their use without Cerys being in danger. Once he had finished the interrogation in private, Tatsu turned to his companion.
"We're ready to go, if you have any healing magic it would help, otherwise I'll have to cauterize his wounds." He requested simply as he slid his hands into his pocket as he meanwhile he kept an eye on Warren just in case he tried something. Sadly, that was not what happened. Warren remained more or less motionless while he talked to Cerys and got things sorted. Pretty soon they could leave the hotel and let the owners know the mafia presence was gone.
