[Basic Information]
Full Name: Bast Ailuros
Alias(es): N/A
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Birthday: Jan 6th
Sexuality: straight
[Characteristics]
Height: 5'5
Weight: 115 lbs
Hair: wildly curly brown hair
Eyes: dark brown
General Appearance:
Bast has never stood out physically, instead having somewhat average height and stature. She would like to have a beautiful figure and spends a lot of time on make-up and vanity items. Her skin is very smooth and unblemished, and possesses a dark skin tone. Her hair has always been waywardly curly, which she prefers to keep natural. Her hair is a dark brown, which falls over her shoulders.
Bast wears a different outfit each day, but usually wears at least a mini-skirt with long leggings (ones that go past her knees). She likes lace, white or black. She also has a variety of long and short-sleeved blouses, which she sometimes pairs up with a vest. Bast prefers clean and solid colors rather than fancy designs or patterns. Normally she wears black or white boots, depending on her outfit's colors.
Around her neck, she wears a thick sterling-chained necklace. On its ring, she wears a key. Most of the time her blouse's collar covers the charm, but it can be seen depending on her position or how she moves.
Personality: At first glance, Bast seems like a normal cheerful girl. She can hold a conversation well enough, can pick up social cues and know when to laugh or back off. However, everything she does is to ultimately further her own benefits. While wealth and combat power are all desirable, she believes true strength comes from having those who will do what you want when needed. To that end, she is incredibly controlling but in a very subtle and manipulative fashion, knowing that few enjoy the thought of being used. If someone outlives their usefulness she has no qualms about breaking ties with them.
She can be quite the actor and will play the role of flirt, damsel in distress, or heroine if needed. In truth she is quite confident in her own power, but feels no need to brag or show it off. Whether or not she is actually as strong as she thinks is quite another matter. She has a cruel and sadistic streak with those she feels strongly against, whether that be friend or foe, but not to the general populace.
Bast understands the law and the repercussions the Magic Council take in response to crime. She is on good behavior for appearance sake, but would take illegal measures if it meant getting ahead without being caught. Although she has considered joining a guild, as it would increase the amount of people she knows and would provide a steady income, she has yet to actually decide on which to join... if any.
Likes:
- Men – Most women don't care when you bat your eyelashes at them. But most men do. Bast has had better luck dealing with men and prefers their company.
- Innocence/Nativity – It's pretty cute, in its own way. It's not how the world works, but rather the hope of how the world should work. It's not a trait she wants in herself, but would prefer to see in others.
- Money – a lot of the world is inaccessible without at least a certain degree of wealth.
- Power – being a great wizard can get one out of many situations. Having a 'friend' who doubles as a great wizard can also be very useful. Being the strongest gives access to coercion tactics when needed.
Dislikes:
- Conflict – Bast prefers for things to go her own way. She hates being called out for lying or being insincere.
- Scary things – She's not into the horror genre. She doesn't like getting scared, not even if someone is joking. And she definitely hates ghost stories.
- Work – It's a pain that you actually have to spend effort to make money, which is necessary for survival. If Bast could buy everything she wanted without a job, she would. She would like to marry into wealth.
- People lecture her about doing the right thing – Bast just finds it annoying. She thinks that the world revolves around material need, and notions like justice and integrity are overrated.
Motivations:
- Power – Through her own magical abilities, and also through the power of allies. She wants to get ahead of others.
- Wealth – Second to power, but still important. Money can open up a lot of options.
Fears:
- Being alone – Life is too boring and hard to not share it with others. She could really use some extra help. Especially from those with great strength.
- Being overly attached – She doesn't like strong emotions when it comes down to dealing with other people. She'd prefer for them to fit into her neat little plan and not have to worry about what happens to them, but fears she might grow attached.
[Life]
Occupation: Freelance Mage – takes the odd job when it presents itself.
Family: Bast's mother died at a young age. Bast lived with her father the majority of her teenage years. She also has a younger brother named Chons, whom she has not seen for five years.
Medical Conditions: N/A
Pets: N/A
Hometown: Shirotsune in her younger years, Crocus in later years
Secrets: She doesn't talk about her past and would prefer for others to not know her background, especially about her father in Crocus. She never mentions her brother, because she still feels partially attached to him. Chons was always weak in her memories, so she has no good reason for wanting to know what happened to him.
- History:
- In her early childhood years, Bast grew up in Shirotsune with her mother and brother. Their father was out of the picture early, having divorced their mother and left without much of an explanation. They had little money and barely managed to scrape by. As the older sibling, Bast took care of her brother chons while their mother worked.
One day their mother became very sick. The siblings were still too young to work and were unsure of who to turn to for help. Bast became a pickpocket, intent on getting enough money to support her family. In one of her thefts, she lifted a strange key. She thought of pawning it for money, but for some reason couldn't bring herself to sell it.
Her brother had other ideas on how to get by. chons searched for a means of contacting their father, who he and Bast had never met. He found their father's address, and wrote a detailed letter of their current predicament – asking for help. They never received a response.
Two weeks passed, and their mother showed no signs of getting better. But one morning, a surprise visitor was at their door. The man said that he was a wizard, and had come in response to chons's letter. He said he would help them, but on one condition – their father wanted one of his children to come and live with him, and train to become a wizard. When the wizard saw the key Bast had picked up, he insisted that she return with him.
With little choice in the matter, Bast agreed. The wizard cast a spell on their mother, and said she merely needed more rest. Leaving behind her brother and mother, Bast traveled with the wizard to Crocus.
Her father lived in a very different fashion than her mother. His house was more of a mansion, with servants and plenty of wealth to go around. It was here where Bast began a new life. She apparently had more magical talent than she knew, for her teacher said she caught on very quickly. She never had to worry about money or material possessions again.
Her father was a strict man and spoke little words. Bast never became close to him, but saw that he was surrounded by others who were willing to do whatever he wanted. As a generous donator and supporter of the Blue Pegasus guild, even powerful wizards would sometimes grant him favors. It was here that she began to realize how powerful her father was, in more than just magic and wealth. She began to wonder if she could have the same, if she tried too.
One day, her father asked to speak with her – which he had rarely done in the past. He explained that he had taught and showed her everything he knew about the world. She had enough magical talent to become an excellent wizard. He gave her a large sum of money, and then dismissed her from his house. She was not allowed to live there anymore.
Not really certain where to be going or what to be doing, Bast decided to visit her mother and brother. She had not seen either of them in five years. She had tried writing, but never got a response... which seemed unlike her brother.
When she got to her old home, Bast found that it no longer existed. The house was empty, and clearly had been degraded for some time. She investigated and found out from the other villagers that her mother had died a long time ago – a year or so after she'd left. As for her brother Chons, he had left Shirotsune shortly after. No one seemed to know what had happened to him.
Without a clear destination in mind, Bast decided to travel the world, until she found the right place to stay.
[Guild & Magic]
Guild: Guildless
Guild Tattoo: Waistline, about where her skirt starts – currently no tattoo
Magic: Pass Through the Gate
Caster or Holder: Holder
Description: Description: The mage possesses keys which allows the summoning of celestial beings. Once a contract is made between the mage and spirit, the mage may summon the spirit to aid in combat or other matters.
Bast only possesses one key and contract right now. However, other keys can open the pathway to other celestial spirits. She can summon forth a spirit by holding the corresponding key, and calling out, "Open heavenly gate!" or something similar. With those words, a gateway between the human world and celestial world appears. The spirit passes through this ethereal gate, and then exists in the physical world. Spirits are very strong and cannot be killed, but their link to the physical realm can be severed if they take enough damage.
Bast's first key is a Naga-like being by the name of Malkah. Malkah possesses thick scales which can crush an opponent. Her upper form resembles that of a woman, but one with scales and a viper hood.
Strengths: The mage is separate from the celestial spirit, and as such experiences no pain when the spirit is damaged. Spirits possess greater power than many mortals, and cannot be killed - only severed from the physical world temporarily. As such, when the spirit is defeated in combat, it will simply return to the spiritual world where it regains energy. When enough time has passed, the same spirit can be brought back to the physical world again.
Weaknesses: Without a key, the spirit cannot be summoned. Bast has no other spells to work with, and would be completely defenseless if separated from the key. When a spirit is summoned, it constantly drains the user's MP. Higher ranks drain more mana. If the spirit is defeated, it cannot be recalled until it has regained enough spiritual energy. Unless the fight drags out very long, that means a defeated spirit will likely stay out of the battle.
- RP Sample:
- He was still falling.
He was falling headfirst from the sky. It didn't make any sense. One moment he'd been on solid ground, and the next... he was here.
He had to survive.
His mind recollected quickly. He had to fly. For a second, fear danced in the back of his mind... could he even fly? He pushed such doubts aside. Surviving was more important.
Beautiful white wings materialized from his back in a fierce white glow. They spread out wide, trying to halt his progress. But he was upside-down, not to mention falling at a great speed. Saigara managed to right himself partially, but couldn't gain his balance. His progress slowed, but didn't halt. The ground reached closer and closer at an alarming rate.
He struggled, tried to claw his way up into the air, but to no avail. The ground slammed into his side roughly. He cried out in pain, his shoulder having taken the brunt of the hit. His pure-white wings vanished at the contact, the impact rattling his senses. Darkness threatened to overtake him. He tried to blink it away. Dark shapes were moving in the outskirts of his visions.
His fist clenched, his head and body pounding. He tried to get up, but failed immediately, collapsing on the ground. He wasn't sure exactly what was going on, but... he couldn't afford to die here. He still had a purpose to fulfill...

Please feel free to let me know any changes I should make or suggestions, and I'm currently writing up a magic description for the celestial spirit.

Re: Bast Ailuros
I do have one suggestion - Bast's magic will likely eventually include more celestial spirits, right? In that case I'd add more about her general abilities than a specific spirit. Otherwise it's kinda like describing a single fireball rather than the entirety of a character's fire-based magic.
Secondly, does she have secrets? She hardly seems like the open book type. I just want to clear it up before I give the go-ahead.
Lastly you lack the word count for your strengths section of your magic.
Other than that things look fine to me. Bump with answers and edits ^^

Re: Bast Ailuros
My bad, I skipped the secret part earlier and forgot to go back to it >_> I've added some to it.
Also changed the description for the magic, including strengths/weaknesses. Thanks for reading!

Re: Bast Ailuros
Everything's great except you're still a tiny bit under in word count on the strengths ^^; soon as you add a word or three I'll stamp you as good to go! Once I do I'll change your account name to match. Do you want Bast or Bast Ailuros?
