Metal and Iron

Post by Roejaster Rallands on Thu Apr 17, 2014 7:01 pm

It was still pitch black by the time Roejaster walked out of his apartment. He found a nice place right along the center river. When he first rolled into town the water front property seemed like a REALLY bad idea, then he saw the second story patio looking out over the the rest of the street, with a full view of the Guild house from right over the house across the way. So the gunslinger has an eye for simple things, besides hiding in plain sight works all the time. Thanks to the guildless Wild Arms could practically tap dance in the barracks of the rune knights and none of them would put two and two together. Idiots... This time of day was always a cool time to walk the streets, a few health conscious citizens out for a morning run. There was one guy in particular he typically saw, when he actually rolled out of bed before the sun, older guy probably in his 50's soft lines of age on his face, lightly salted hair. As the man ran past him there was a sense of subtle happiness, the kind of happiness that was seeded from the easy life. Roejaster just grinned softly and kept his pace before he chuckled a bit "There’s no way"

As the sun peaked over the horizon, Roejaster squinted and held his hat down as he stared into the glare of the peaking sunlight. The large tree in the center of the park was finally turning green after a bit of a cold winter, though the streets of Magnolia were beautiful this time of year, especially at sunrise. All the flowers started to yawn open with small drops of dew falling off. The large gate that lead out of town was half shaded in the shadows that were crawling away from the sun. Roejaster posted up against one of the gates pillars and leaned back against it, one foot perched up and hands in the pockets of his signature jacket. He had black boots with silver chains adorning them, the tops of which were covered by blue jeans, a black and silver belt, a red t-shirt with a black bandana tied around his neck, and of course his hat. “Looks like I’m first.” He started to wonder what this little adventure had in store for them. Zoning out a little bit as he waited for Hannah.

Hannah was late. She normally never was late unless she wanted to be, but today she was running late. Hannah was riding out of town with Roejaster today, and she was really looking forward to it, but she had overslept. She packed a bit the night before, and planned to pack the rest this morning, but that hadn’t worked out. She was throwing on her clothes, and cursing quite loudly. She had contemplated not taking a shower, but that hadn’t happened. She did not want to smell like last night’s alcohol and yesterday’s fighting. She might be rough around the edged but she wasn’t that rough. Hannah wished she could have gotten up early, eaten a nice breakfast, or taken a nice stroll. But instead she was running down the stairs, praying she had stuffed enough clothes in her duffle bag to last her. She was a girl after all so she had to bring stuff.

Hannah hand managed to dress like she usally did, jeans, tank top, and combat boots. She was carrying her leather jacket over her right shoulder and her duffle bag over the left. Her hair was still wet and sticking together as she hurried to the front gates. The sun was just starting to rise but she hardly noticed how it looked. ”I hope he is still there!”

She sighed a sigh of relief when she finally rounded the last corner keeping the gates out of sight. He was still there. She normally wouldn’t have cared that much if a guy had waited on her, but this wasn’t normal. Hannah jogged up to Roejaster and dropped her bag on the ground with a thud. She was panting and out of breath. ”Sorry… overslept…” She managed to say between breaths. ”I hope you didn’t wait too long for me.”

Roejaster was just relaxing against the pillar, letting the morning sun soak in a bit. He heard footsteps quicken a little and get closer, he lifted his brim a bit and saw Hannah closing the gap. He smirked and dropped his leg from the pillar standing up straight. She ran up catching her breath. She said she overslept, but he didn't mind waiting they had plenty of time to get on the road. "No worries darlin" he smiled at her as he picked up her bag and slung it over his shoulder. "Nah, I've only been here for about five minutes. Gave me a second to wake he up" he shifted his neck and winked to her. He nodded his head to the street "Let's get to it"

With the sun at their backs they headed off towards whatever adventure awaited them. Roejaster's boots would "ching" with every step. The silver chains clacking together. With Hannah at his side, he could feel a weird sense of warm energy radiating in his arm. Not like a magic trace, but something just different. Definitely not a bad different. "I'm glad you tagged along. It's been awhile since I traveled with someone." he said blushing just a bit. "Am I seriously blushing?!" he thought to himself. He held his left arm to his side and as they walked along summoned MERCY, flipping it forward and back on his finger, slipping it into his holster. He shifted Hannah's bag. "I was thinking on our destination. How does getting to know Fiore a bit better sound? I was thinking Mount Hokabe, Akane Resort, maybe Hosenka town? What do you think?"

Hannah was glad Roejaster was so chill about things. He hadn’t minded her oversleeping and then rushing up like a girl late for school. He even grabbed her bag for her. It was nice and chivalrous, and normally Hannah wasn’t for that type of thing, but it was nice coming from Roejaster. ”Aw, thanks man. I was worried I would be late and you would be gone.” She doubted he would have done that, but the worry was still there as she rushed around. Hannah followed as he headed down the street.

The cling of his boots was a nice rhythm for them to leave to, and the metal sound was a bit ironic even. ”I’m glad to tag along. I can’t remember the last time I traveled with someone.” Hannah looked up at him as he said he was blushing. She blushed a bit too, mainly because she didn’t know how to react to that. ”Um… so you are. You look good in red.” That was the best she could think of to answer with.

The cowboy mentioned several places he thought they should go. Hannah liked the sound of all of them, but the resort sounded the best to her. ”Well, I could use some relaxation. The resort sounds fun, but… This was something she was a bit embarrassed by. ”I can’t swim very good… or at all.” That was just something she had never learned to do, and her metal magic made swimming even harder.

Hannah seemed on board with Akane, but all be it to his surprise she couldn't swim. He smiled "Great! Then I'll take that request!" he postured proudly "I will help Hannah Jaymes of Fairy Tail learn how to swim. Plus we might lose all our money at the tables" He joked with her as he tipped his hat "I think you picked right, Akane is going to be just what the doctor ordered. A little R&R."

The forest started to get thicker around the road they walked down. Beams of sunlight trickling through the tops of the trees as the sauntered along. He didn't say much just enjoyed the walk. They moved on a little further, before they came across a hill over looking the forest with a single oak tree growing atop the hill. Roejaster stopped for a second and slid the bag down his shoulder and onto the ground. Then shrugged off his jacket arm by arm. The tail of his bright white Fariy Tail crest could be seen from under his sleeve. He then slung the bag back up and hung his Jacket from it. "That sun feels great" He said as he looked up towards the bright sun. Looking back towards the way they came, you could see the the top of the Cardia Cathedral "We've made some good ground." Turning to Hannah "How're you holding out? Want to take a break or keep on trekkin?" He asked standing straight and grinning at her.

Hannah couldn’t help but smile and laugh a bit at Roejaster. He was apparently going to teach her how to swim. Even though she was embarrassed by it, she wasn’t nearly as much so because of his attitude. ”Thanks, sure you can teach me how to swim. You might lose all your money, but I plan on cleaning house.” Hannah was alright at cards, but she played up her skills there a bit. A little bragging never hurt anyone.

The walk through the forest was nice and relaxing. The broken beams of light were very beautiful and Hannah enjoyed looking up at the trees. The forest air was calm and cool, and it carried a variety of smells on it. Hannah would occasionally take deep breaths to take in all those smells and enjoy them. Clean air was definitely good for the lungs.

Roejaster stopped momentarily at the top of a hill to get comfortable. Hannah looked back from where they came and she could see the top of the cathedral in the distance. ”Yeah, we’ve definitely made some good ground.” She turned and looked at the cowboy as he grinned at her. She decided that even though she wasn’t tired, she could use a small break. ”Lets take a break for a bit.” Hannah sat down next to the tree and leaned back against it, making sure she was comfortable in the shade. ”You know I can carry my own bags right?” She didn’t mind him carrying the bags, she was just making sure he knew she could take them if he got tired.

Fairy Tail's resident gunslinger leaned his back against the trunk of the tree and slid right down it to the ground. The clink of the chains on his boots as he landed next to Hannah. He took a big sigh and took in the moment for a second, eyes closed and smile on his face. "Of course you can, but call it a bit of nostalgia for me. Back before I picked up my Requip, I traveled Fiore with nothing, but a bag on my back and a couple six shooters at my side." He held his left hand up and a silvery light appeared for a moment as a toothbrush materialized. He gripped it in his hand a spun it between his fingers, before he tossed it up and it vanished into the same silver light. "So I should tell you thank you for letting me carry your bags. " He tilted his head and looked at her from the corners of his eyes and chuckles a bit.

"What'd you think of the old man when you first met him?" Roejaster asked as he stared out over the scene of Magnolia. There was a certain serenity to it. The soft breeze drifting through the leaves, the ocean off in the distance, giving the coastal city a much more relaxed feeling. Of course living in the city, especially in Fairy Tail, always gives you the sense of a faster paced life style. Though Roejaster likes it that way to be honest.

Hannah liked this, just resting and talking. Dang she was getting soft or something; she would have to fix that before it got worse. She let out a long relaxed sigh and looked over at him when he sat down. She cocked an eyebrow as he talked. Apparently he had been broke at one point. ”So… you came here with nothing? Um… where did you come here from? And why were you broke?” She was very curious, but also sympathetic. She liked him and didn’t like the idea of him with nothing. That sounded really unpleasant and unlucky. She gently punched his shoulder when he teased, but she smiled at him.

”The old man, he is intimidating. I was nervous, but don’t you tell anyone that.” She liked to keep that intimidating aura about her. Didn’t want to let the new guys know she was human just like anyone else. Yep, she was going soft. Hannah found this more relaxing the more she sat there. She would remember this spot for a while, it was quaint. ”Let me know when you want to head out again and we will. Unless you need a nap or something.” She nudged his shoulder again. She was becoming more curious about this man.

It seems like they were going to start at the interesting part. Getting to know each other. Now Roejaster was a social enough guy, but he had his own skeletons that only a handful of people knew about, even though it was public information. It was just a different approach trying to explain it himself. He crossed his arm over his jacket out of instinct. His grin hardened a little. There was a bit of an inner fight going on in his head. Ms. James was a woman he could honestly say he enjoyed being around. Minute by minute she got more intriguing, but was that enough... "I came to Magnolia with a lot of adventure under my holsters, that much is for sure." He gritted his teeth a little, tossing around what to say next... Ah to hell with it. "Once upon a time I spent what seemed a lifetime ago in the Outlands of Fiore. That uncharted no man's frontier, where fight with words, and speak with lead." He nodded looking straight ahead, a little worried to look Hannah straight in the eyes. He kept with his half confession "Needless to say I left that world and wound up losing a bet to the old man, and I'm a man of my word, so here i am at home in Fairy Tail". That felt alright to him. It felt even better to share it with someone, even if it wasn't the whole kit and kaboodle. "How about you Ms. James? What brought you to our rambuncious eclectic family?"

Roejaster chuckled a bit after she gave her impression "Your secret is safe with me." he nodded to her "Yeah... Pops, certainly offers a great first impression." After she asked if they should move on, Roe leaned up to check the sky, the sun was getting deeper into the day, so might as well set out. He stood up as he answered "Nah I'm not getting that old yet, thank you very much." He winked at her as he slung her bag over his shoulder and reached a hand out to help her up. "Shall we?"

Eh, skeletons weren’t always a bad thing. It just meant that you had lived and things had happened. Everyone had secrets, and things they have regretted. She didn’t need to know about his problems, and she wouldn’t press for information unless it came up. It would be weird getting to know him though. She wasn’t used to getting to know anyone. Price of being a loner.

He was poetic when he told her about his past. It was a nice touch in all honesty. ”Oh… that’s kind of cool actually. All mysterious and such. Sounds like you were kind of an outlaw then. Not going to lie, that’s kind of hot.” She smirked at him. It was hard for her to take things serious, but she was seriously listening, even if she was teasing. She meant well.

”Oh, how did I end up here? Well, it was a bit out of necessity. I haven’t had any family in years, and I needed a place to stay, and a place to feel safe. You know? Wandering is all good, but its important to have somewhere to go back to. So, I joined for a place to be my own, in some way or another. And I wanted to be around the best and learn around the best. So… I joined Fairy Tale.” She left it vague enough not to give away everything, but also still give him some details. She trusted him, trusted him enough anyway.

Enough story time for the moment then. She smirked at him and took his hand to get up. ”Alright then. Let’s get to going.” She continued walking in the direction they were before.

That was definitely a response he didn't mind. As she mentioned the word "Outlaw" he just smirked knowingly. Hot huh? Yeah, she was definitely earning points in his book pretty quickly.

So it seems she was out like he was, though from what Roejaster had heard she has been with Fairy Tail since she was a kid. His face softened as he thought of her alone at such a young age. Though as she spoke on, her resolve at such a young age was impressive, this chick has always been tough as nails.

He helped her to her feet and he nodded to her in affirmation. They took off down the path again.

Finally the rich smell of the ocean returned as they came around the last bend in the road. Night had fallen on the two Fairy Tail wizards, stars lighting up the sky with the gleam of something just over the next ridge. Then there it was the prestigious Akane Resort Island, even from the shore you could tell the resort was a playground. It was so lit up it seemed the sand around the resort was in bright sunlight. Roejaster looked down to see the Ferry boarding, his face sparked up, getting pretty amped up. He slowly grabbed Hannah's hand and turned his head to look at her "Come on! We better hurry if we want to catch our ride!" He quickly picked up his pace keeping his hand locked in Hannah's. As they hit the dock the Ferry's motors had already revved up and it began to pull away. "You ready?! On three!" He pulled her a little faster using his own speed to keep pace with the Ferry, "One.." The Ferry was now pulling past the dock itself "Two..." He planted his feet at the edge of the dock, with the Ferry a good 20 feet from the boards, he turned and cupped both of his hands together to create a launch spot for Hannah "Three!"

Now that Hannah had landed safely, he summoned Mercy, then walked back about 10 feet, before he launched off his back foot sprinting down the dock Mercy in hand. Without missing a step leaped off the dock simultaneously firing off an incredibly loud round with a strong concussion from the shot, launching Roejaster through the air. He came dropping on to the deck of the Ferry and quickly tuck, rolled, and slid to a halt. Passengers on the boat started and bewildered at the entrance, though Roe just flicked his coat tails back and walked over to Hannah at the railing of the Ferry "Sorry for making you wait." he said through his signature smirk.

The smell of the ocean and the feel of the sea breeze through her hair was relaxing once the two wizards made it to the ocean. This was almost down right romantic, stars, the ocean, all of it. Hannah would have noticed if she wasn’t so tired from all the walking. She wasn’t going to complain though, she was keeping that tough girl persona up at all times, but boy did her feet hurt.

She would have been fine to just slowly walk, but she looked up to see a ferry boarding, a ferry they had to catch. She sighed as Roejaster took her hand and started running. ”We better not miss the boat… I ain’t swimming…” She ran as fast as she could. He was faster than her, iron wasn’t known for its speed after all. But she did her best and kept up for the most part. ”Ready for what?” She asked as they got near. Roe apparently had a plan and she was going to go along with it. She hoped he knew what he was doing. She waited for the countdown and used the man’s hands to spring onto the boat. ”If I drown I’m going to haunt you!” She yelled at him as she flew through the air. She landed and also did a tuck and roll, and was fine for the most part.

Roejaster just couldn’t stop from making a flashy entrance. She stood up and smirked as she watched him land. The crowd on the boat was surprised by them. Hannah just scowled. ”What are you all looking at?” She leaned against the rail as the daredevil came up to her. ”Always with the big entrance hmm?”

The Gunslinger glanced back at the crowd as Hannah snipped at them. The awkward shuffled from the majority of them was actually pretty funny. He watched her as her face softened up as he settled in "First Impressions right?" he shrugged through his comment and gave her a wink.

He leaned onto the rail and leaned into Hannah a bit, his shoulder softly landing against hers, as he gave out a cool down sigh. The land behind the boat sauntered further away as the ferry trudged along. His legs were certainly feeling it, he must be slipping out of the adventuring shape, so these are civilian problems. Weird. "I guess us vagrant types just can't keep away from the road. I think that's why the guild life was an easy one to slide into. Get a job when you need the cash, friendly faces, and a place to call home."[/color] He looked over to his green haired travel companion. "You know what I mean?"

A Bell tolled at the halfway point, it wasn't very far, they could've easily built a bridge, I guess a ferry makes it feel more exclusive. "Almost there now" Roejaster noticed a forties-something gentleman who was leaning over the rail not looking to hot "Too bad they don't hand out sea legs with the life jackets" he chuckled a bit at his own joke, before turning back to Hannah "You ready for some much deserved R&R?"

First impressions were right, and he made good impressions. She couldn’t help but smile at him when he winked. He was quite the charmer when he wanted to be. Hannah liked that about him. She liked a lot of things about him.

When he leaned into her she leaned right back, using him to help hold her up a bit. This was comfortable, and almost too cute. She might have to do something about that. Hannah was not the cute type. Her legs were feeling it too, she needed to go walking more, or work out her legs more. This pain thing was for the birds. ”I know what you mean. The guild life gives you a good home base and source of money. Its hard to pass that up, but… the friendly faces are nice. I’m not that close to anyone at the guild.” She knew Roejaster was a lot more personable than she was, and he had to know a lot more people.

The ride was going quickly, that was good. Hannah’s head perked up a bit and looked at the bell when it rang. She didn’t want to be on the water any longer than she had to. ”Good… I don’t like the water.” That was only because of the swimming things. She looked over at the man Roejaster pointed out, if he puked she didn’t want to be around. ”Yes I am. Got anything fun in mind we should do? I’ve never been here before.”

"Well out of the gate." He paused for a moment as the arrival horn sounded "I was thinking we check in, change real quick, and meet for our dinner reservations at 8. I hope you like fish." he smirked at her, he had been excited to let her know that he got them reservations at 'Star Light' one of the most popular restaurants at the resort, but he figured he'd keep it a surprise, until they got there. "Then we'll see what the night has in store for us." The Ferry came to a bit of a soft jerk as it was anchored and reeled into the dock.

Stood up straight and rolled his shoulder as a pop sounded from it, he slung Hannah's bag onto his shoulder "Shall we Miss James?" he grinned and turned from the railing following the crowd exiting to dry land. The lights, the atmosphere, and the sounds of a good time filled their senses. It really was an adult playground, of course any kind of theme park is kid friendly. The group was greeted by beautiful women in short kimonos, each one almost identically pretty to the next. In unison the welcoming committee "Hello and welcome to the Akane Resort!" they then clapped and started placing flower leis on the guests walking through. A green, blue, and yellow assortment was placed around Hannah's neck, as a purple, red, and white one was placed around Roejaster's. Roejaster nodded to the girl and looked at Hannah to see how she was taking the scene.

They strolled through the doors and into the grand foyer, a massive marble clad neon lit room leading to a front desk. Roejaster lead the way to the receptionist. She smiled at the two and bowed "Why hello, welcome to Akane Resort. Can I get your name sir?"
Roejaster took his hat in his hand and leaned a little into the desk, "Course, Gattry Bailey." She leaned down to her lacrima powered archive and typed something in for a moment, Roejaster coyly grinned and winked at Hannah. The receptionist perked up "Ah! Here you are Mr. Bailey! You have two rooms right across from each other, floor 12- room 16 and room 17." She slid the keys across the desk, the gunslinger nodded to the girl "Thanks".  Roejaster picked up the keys and handed number 17's set to Hannah, then he glanced up to a large magical hologram of  ornate clock, then back to Hannah "Looks like we're set. Our restaurant reservation is for the restaurant on the top floor. Seems we've got about an hour until then." The two set off toward the elevator.

”What… reservations? Really?” She was not expecting that in the slightest. She looked uneasy and fidgety, but not in a bad way, she just had no idea what to do with this. They were going out to dinner, at some place you needed reservations for. That was… new. Hannah didn’t have any fancy clothes, and she wouldn’t have wanted to wear them if she had them. But she probably would have dressed up if she knew this was coming, but the surprise was sweet and unexpected. ”You’re just full of surprises…”

Hannah followed the cowboy off the boat without saying a word. The sight of this place was really something. Hannah couldn’t stop looking around even if she wanted to. Her senses were abuzz. She could enjoy a place like this. It was more happening than she was used to, but it looked fun and exciting. She smiled at the cute girl that put the leis on her neck. This definitely felt like a vacation. She looked at her cowboy escort. ”I could definitely get used to this.”

Roejaster had this all planned out. That was fine with Hannah she followed along as he got their rooms. Oh? He was going by an alias. That was kind of hot, Hannah wouldn’t lie. She smirked at Roejaster when he winked at her. He could be a player if he really wanted to. Once they had their keys, Hannah headed for the elevator and hit the button. ”Well… do I need to wear anything nice for this restaurant that takes reservations? If so I have nothing to wear.”

"Now that's up to you, because there's one more surprise waiting in your room when you get there." he said as he walked into the casino stylized elevator, smiling at her, before leaning against a hand rail on the back. Though cool and collected on the outside, Roejaster was pretty close to breaking. He actually had butterflies knotting up his stomach at this point, he had called ahead and purchased a few choices for evening wear and had them delivered to the room before hand. "Am I laying it on too thick?..." He thought to himself. He reached over and pressed the "12" button, it illuminated and the doors closed.  The elevator softly jerked as it ascended. The elevator would make a soft ding as they passed another floor, he took a deep breath and dissipated the nerves a little. Roejaster placed his hand closest to Hannah on the railing. The elevator finally toned when it arrived at 12 and the doors slid open, Roejaster extended his arm "Badass metal mages first" he bowed a little and smirked.

They didn't have to stroll far before they reached their rooms, right across from one another. Roejaster put his key in his door and opened the entry way, he pushed the door open and glanced inside to the lavish suite, he turned back to Hannah before he headed inside to get ready. "So see you in about an hour?" he smiled at her, his eyes looking with an earnest glint to them.

Walked into his room and opened the curtains to the bay window, looking out at the gorgeous island and theme park, he had given Hannah the beach front view, and sat at the end of his bed "This trip is going to be great" he said to himself. He then sighed, stood up, and set his hat on the dresser in front of him, looking into the mirror, his hair was the laid down/slightly messy look it typically was. He shrugged off his trench coat and held his hand out, his silver light shone before a black vest, white button up shirt, and black slacks appeared draped over his arm. As he assembled his even outfit, putting the last button into place, he walked into the connected bathroom and started the faucet, running his hands through them, he then ran his hands through his hair pulling it back. As he looked up to the finished product, he smirked "It's been a bit since you were this done up."
