Exciting Mysteries

While Verity was in Clover Town, she thought she might as well do something interesting. At the moment she was walking around aimlessly in the streets wondering exactly what she should be doing to be able to do something. And then she bumped into the woman. The woman grasped her hands and looked at her with pleading eyes. The blonde mused this information she was being told. "Okay, I'll do it," The woman smiled happily and then told her more details. Yay for details. But they were beginning to become important to her. So basically there was rumours of a ghost attacking people in a grave. At least it was something along the lines of that. She nodded her head and moved off wondering what she'd do from now till night time. She'd probably just go there now. The sun was going to be setting soon anyways.

And so, within a space of a few minutes, Vera had reached the grave. Whether it was disrespectful or not, she was also sitting on someone's grave stone, elbows on knees, chin in hands. She wondered if there actually was a ghost around. It didn't make sense for a ghost to be there. Ghosts didn't exist right? An excited grin formed on her face. Perfect time to find out. This would be interesting. She mused while the sun began to cast it's last rays on the land, lighting the sky up in shades of pink and orange. Her sister had always said ghosts exist. In fact she had said if she wasn't nice to ghosts, they would come get her in the afterlife. Vera was never sure she believed Kuroha but she was definitely intrigued by the concept of them. They were like a great box of mysteries. And she had the key.

She woke up with a start. The sky was black and the only light she could see was the soft glow radiating from the lamp post near one of the tombs. She blushed upon realising she had fell fast asleep and on a tomb no less. Luckily for her there hadn't been anyone around. The girl wondered whether she should make her way out of the graveyard. It was night time right? That meant by now she should have encountered that ghost. She sighed and closed her eyes. She yawned, not even attempting to cover her mouth. God she was really tired. And then she heard a noise. The blonde opened one sleepy blue eye. Without registering what she saw she closed her eyes again. She twitched her eyebrows. Wait. She opened her eyes again, this time both - and a scream ripped out of her mouth.

In front of her face was a silver haired, silver eyed, real life ghost. And it was literally in her face. She pushed - or tried to push - the ghost away and found her hands went through. Wild eyed, the Re-Quip mage jumped up and tried to fight the ghost. She barreled right through it. So those legends were true. She narrowed her eyes and yelled a valiant battle cry. Her attacks were to no avail, she couldn't even scratch it! She stopped attacking for a while.

"Who are you?" She asked the ghost. No reply. "Did I accidentally anger you by sleeping at your grave?" Still no reply. She tried talking to it. Then she realised...it didn't move once. That wasn't natural. Even for a ghost it wasn't.

The blonde grew suspicious. This 'thing' couldn't be a ghost. Ghosts were meant to be much more animated. Which meant....this ghost was only a projector image! She growled in annoyance. And here she was whacking and trying to attack a not even inanimate object. Now to find the real culprits.

She left the still ‘ghost’ where it was lying and started to stomp in any general direction. If she had had any sleeves, she would have been rolling them up right now. As it was, she made do with shooting fiery grenade bombs out of her eyes. Not literally of course. That would have been kind of scary actually. Having flaming eyes wasn’t in her big list of things to do in life. She continued stomping until she realised that it would get her nowhere. And then she saw the fire. Her eyes zoomed onto the scene. There were robbers. Two of them and they were sitting around a fire. If she was in the mood for a laugh she’d have imagined them dancing and singing weird old folk songs…but she wasn’t. The girl approached them, cracking her knuckles. Her gaze was furious.

“YOU ARE THE CULPRIT!” She yelled in what was, perhaps, a voice too loud to be suitable for a graveyard. It did its purpose though and the robbers looked at her. They sneered.

“Ooh! Little girl! We’re soooo afraid,” Smoked began to come out of her ears. She growled and started walking towards them. She must have looked menacing to some degree because they stopped laughing. She increased her glare and dashed forward, unleashing a loud battle cry as she did so. Being attacked by a seventeen year old girl never got more intense.

They stood frozen as she began her offense, grabbing the collar of the first robber before shoving them towards the other. They stumbled as they crashed into each other and before they could recover, the blonde was coming at them again. Two hands placed firmly together, she slapped one the robbers sending off into a daze before using the momentum gained to punch the other one. For good measure, she sent another punch into their nose. They groaned and she kneed them in the stomach.

And then someone grabbed her from behind and tried to bring her down onto her knees. That wasn’t going to happen any day. She ripped her arms free from the robber and rolled forwards, leaving the robber to do whatever they were doing before summoning Hauskor and whamming the hilt of the blade into their skull. She stopped fighting and stowed away her dagger again. They looked pretty defeated to her, unconscious on the ground.

The blonde didn’t particularly know what she’d do with them but decided to lug them with her back to Clover Town and turn them into the officials. She could safely say that this was the worst waste of time she had ever gotten herself into.
