The birth of smoldering rage Empty The birth of smoldering rage

Vidrio was walking through hargeon town at a very fast pace for him. No longer was he dragging his feet with each step nor was he hunched over. It had been a week since the LS library incident and Vidrio's hunt for work had taken him back to hargeon. This time it was an escort mission he'd picked up somewhere along the road. All he had to do was meet the client at the marketplace nearby and he'd be getting paid soon enough.

And speaking of marketplaces, Vidrio noticed that he was quickly approaching the one in Hargeon town. Now all that was left to do was find the client. Marching through the market Vidrio noticed a lot of the shops and stalls were empty, and he soon found out why when he met the client.

Said person was a middle aged man with short red hair. Honestly you couldn't miss him, red hair was like a massive sign. Vidrio approached the man and cleared his throat, gaining his attention. "Are you Rovan, and did you request a mage to escort you to clover town?" Vidrio asked, mentally applauding his own professionalism. The man looked at Vidrio impartially before addressing him. "Yes I'm Rovan. Am I to assume you are here to claim the job. As you can see, the market is moving to clover town for the season, so I, naturally, wish to move my stock there too. You will be paid 2000 jewels once we reach the entrance to clover town." Rovan stated, leaving no room for argument as he strode off yelling something about wasting time. Vidrio gaped for a moment before doing what seemed appropriate.

"Troublesome" He sighed...

Vidrio sighed silently to himself for what seemed to be the thousandth time that day, as he he continued walking down the road towards clover town. It turned out that Rovan wasn't one for conversation, so Vidrio was pretty much by himself again. He had been praying for something, anything, to break the silence that clung to the band of two as they continued down the road. It was roughly two hours walking from Hargeon to clover, and one of those had been spent in complete silence.

And it grated on Vidrio's nerves. I mean really grated. Being an orphan had given Vidrio pretty thick skin, but even that wore out eventually. The road was pretty boring. It was one Vidrio, being homeless, had walked plenty of times before. There were only a few places Vidrio hadn't been. The guild halls and the capital. He had his reasons, being a guildless mage and all. But it still meant he was well traveled. There had been times Vidrio had considered settling down and joining a guild, but to be honest he just didn't want to give up the incredible sense of freedom he got from being guildless.

But that wasn't all that was grating on Vidrio's nerves. Oh no. That would mean the job was boring and normal. No. Vidrio had been feeling watched for a while now. He could feel eyes burning holes into his bare torso. He had almost called them out on two occasions already. But now it really was getting strange. The world around them felt restless, agitated.

Then a blade of wind launched out of the bushes, straight at Rovan...

Vidrio launched into action upon seeing the wind blade. He leapt towards Rovan and pushed him to the ground, with Rovan going from being bisected to getting a small cut on his cheek. Vidrio spun to meet the threat, and was rewarded with the sight of two men in masks. 'What're the odds' Vidrio mused to himself as the two launched at him as one. Both were slow and both were charging in a straight line.

So imagine their surprise when Vidrio appeared behind them both, and slammed his elbows into both of their spines. He then turned and backhanded them both, sending them sprawling to the floor. One got straight back up and charged again, yelling in anger. Vidrio frowned as he saw this, feeling something was wrong with this whole situation. They had already shown a minor knowledge of magic, so why weren't they using it?

He got his answer when before reaching him, the man fired off a small wind blast. Vidrio simply ducked under it and Launched forward at the last second, cloths-lining the thug. He was strangely fond of the whole cloths-line maneuver. Watching in glee as his enemy fell to the floor, clutching his stomach, Vidrio turned to face the second thug, a second too late, as the thugs fist collided with his jaw. Vidrio wobbled back, dazed by the blow. The thug however didn't capitalize on this as he stood there, arms crossed, relaxing. Vidrio gained his senses back just in time to dodge the wind blast by jumping over it.

Only to hear a cry of pain before the other robber fell to the floor, not breathing. Dead. The other robber seemed undisturbed, as if that had been the plan. That's when Vidrio realized that it had been.

The dead robber had been betrayed.

Vidrio snapped with anger...

The birth of smoldering rage Empty Re: The birth of smoldering rage

Vidrio was no longer there, replaced by some kind of monster, and that monster had one goal. To tear the remaining robber to shreds. As it morphed into Vidrio's takeover form wordlessly. The flames around the black collar bone roaring violently into life. Then all was silent for just a split second.

Then Vidrio roared.

The form of Mugetsu blurred across the road almost instantly, slamming it's fist into the thug, sending him flying. But it seemed that Vidrio wasn't quite done yet as he blurred into existence next to the robbers sailing body, slamming a fist into it, launching it downwards. The sickening crack of bones breaking filled the area as Vidrio slammed his foot into the downed thug. The black, humanoid lion then tossed the thug into a tree, leaving him indented in the bark. Vidrio then stalked closer, his body fueled with the desire to destroy the vile man.

Deep in his mind, Rovan knew that Vidrio's anger was justified. He was angry himself that the thug had just tossed away his partners's life. And as Vidrio got closer to the thug, time slowed down as his fist struck the thugs forehead.

A voice broke through the silence, it was a low demonic, echoing voice but you could tell it was Vidrio. "Let's get going Rovan. I just wanna get out of here." Vidrio drawled out tiredly. He released his takeover and set off, followed by Rovan.

The two reached clover town with no trouble after the robber incident and as Rovan payed Vidrio, their eyes connected and a silent message was understood.

Never speak of this again...

Mission complete.
