Inter-Guild Relations Empty Inter-Guild Relations

Kade knew a bit more about Blue Pegasus lately. He had been in a tournament with them. Not that it was really a tournament. It was competitive camping. He didn’t feel any sort of competitive spirit. They went to an island, hung out, were tested, and based on some people’s personal judgments, they were given ranks on… how well they worked together? He didn’t really care about winning that or not, but it did seem kind of insulting. The idea that while being watched by a group of people, his personal relationships with his guild and friend were being scrutinized and judged. He’d seen a lot of growth in his team, and gotten closer to the both of them. So being told “that’s nice, but not good enough” was insulting. Who had the right to judge him and his friends on something like that? He might have been irritated with Daedalus and the other guild masters for being so arrogant as to judge human interaction like that, but things had happened too fast after that. First he got back, unconcerned with the results, and then he got hit with a train. Sort of. A lighting dragon slayer train. Then he’d run off. He didn’t exactly have time to be insulted though, and that was for the best. Kade needed to mellow out, not lose his mind… again.

Kade didn’t hold the tournament against anyone. It was a fun experience. It was just a demeaning critieria to judge someone on. Not his cup of tea. He really did like tea though. Maybe he could go have some tea with Daedalus the next time he was back home. The issue with Taki had everyone a bit… confused. Lost even. He didn’t like seeing his friends lost like that, and he knew he was one of the older guild members. He really needed to stop worrying about home for the time being. Sure he wanted to worry about home… but he needed to keep his head in the game. People were hurting with all the chaos that had just happened, and he was going to help out. Maybe that was the sort of thing Taki was doing. Helping the greater good. Or investigating. He felt like he should be home, but he needed this. He was going to help people out, ease their minds, and earn some jewels. This way he could have something to take home to his guild, to help out. They needed help. It seemed like the other guilds needed even more help, and by doing jobs for them, it might ease their burden. This was why he headed to Blue Pegasus.

A woman named Raylin was around the guild hall. She seemed to really need some help, but given the current situation… a situation Kade didn’t want to spent time dwelling on, she needed help from another force. Kade approached her, asking what she needed. She had eyes and hair like his, and he felt drawn to that. It wasn’t as if he gave people credit for having the same hair color as he did, but he did naturally notice it more.

Raylin was apparently the daughter of a merchant, and was concerned about the situation at the nearby cemetery. Cemeteries were not Kade’s favorite place to be. His parents had graves in a cemetery, but they were not buried there. He had a grave in a cemetery, but clearly was no buried. He just didn’t have a good relationship with cemeteries, but he heard her out. People had been seeing a ghost there and become frightened. He understood the alarm of finding a ghost in a cemetery. Kade did not believe in ghosts, but he did believe in magic, obviously, so he supposed he shouldn’t be that skeptical. “I will look into it tonight and see what I can do for you,” he told her when they finished exchanging information.

Thank you so much,” she told him sincerely. She gave him her address to come tell her about the events that transpired after the fact.

Kade parted with the kind woman and headed to the cemetery after another errand. He needed to go fishing. He wasn’t going to spend any money on this trip. He was pouring everything into his guild. In the attack some of the rooms had been damaged. People’s bedrooms, people’s personal belongings. It wasn’t fair to them. Their things were damaged or destroyed, and his were fine. He was collecting money and he was going to get everyone to pitch in together. They were a “family” like people called Fairy Tail, but they were enough. Kade liked to think they just weren’t as dysfunctional as Fairy Tail, but he never considered his guild to be any less than his family.

After his fishing trip he cooked his lunch and had a snack for dinner. He was in the cemetery as the sun set, and went to looking around. Nothing. Kade began walking around and reading the names of the dead. What would happen if there was a ghost? He didn’t think he would want that. To see his parents? To see them… existing on after all that pain. He didn’t want them lingering here. It just hurt to think about. He sighed, before being startled by a bright white light nearby.

Kade was surprised, and confused for a moment. It… there? He didn’t hear… no, he did. He did hear something. His acute hearing picked up some… small buzzing noise. A machine. He was fairly well acquainted with light. This was a light. He stepped out of the way. Walking toward the light source. It was a good disguise. Were he not so surprised he would have been more alarmed. His confusion saved him on that grief. His confusion quickly vanished when he spotted a fire. Some men, around his age, were sitting there. Kade crossed his arms, listening to them discuss their recent haul.

Kade cleared his throat. “Talking shop, are we? In a time like this, it would serve you better to leave the work to a legitimate goal.

They jumped up, charging their magic and running at him. Apparently he wasn’t welcome. He let one land a punch to his face. That was going to bruise. He used his boost to charge his power and knee’d one in the stomach. Then kicked him out of the way. His usual combo of a trip kick and an elbow didn’t even come into play. With the kick it was enough. They were amateurs, praying on the weak in a time of panic. It was sad. He smashed the projector and gathered up the money. He would deliver this to Raylin and see what she had to say about it. He would have turned the men in, but given the current situation… he doubted the authorities could be trusted with much.
