Some Light Magic

Kade yawned, rolling over in his bed and looking at the window. The curtains were pulled back and it was a bright and sunny day. His favorite. He was going to take a shower, but first he wanted to work on some early morning gardening. It seemed like the best course of action. After all, he was going to get dirty outside, so why wash up and then have to do it again so soon? He pulled back his covers and walked around his room. Boxers and a wife-beater. He rubbed his face idly before heading to the nearest bathroom. Kade shaved, then combed his blue hair back into a pony tail. Yes, it was definitely shaggy by now. Oh well.

Upon returning to his room he put on some shorts and kept the wife-beater as his shirt. It let his tattoos how and it allowed him to get more sun on his skin. Win-win for Kade. He slipped on some sandals and headed downstairs. He noticed some of the apples on his trees were looking ripe. Kade glanced at them. Perhaps he should work on some of his spells. He focused light energy into his hand, then with a quick motion, slid a disk of light from his right hand via his left, and then again.

The disks of light went in opposite directions. Both hitting their targets. They sliced the stems of apples Kade had thought were ripe enough. They faded off. Kade smiled. He cast the spell again, this time sending those disks into the base of a tree. They hit with great impact. He winced, alright, he should probably not be casting that on his poor trees. He sort of wanted those to stay healthy.

Kade focused on his gardening at this point. He tended to everything without any difficulty. It was simple watering and trimming. He did this daily, and if he was going to be gone for any amount of time, someone else handled it for him. He tried to always give notice for his trips. He was glad to see his garden had not been damaged in the recent attack. It had been difficult enough. Although the garden could be rebuilt, and it was no great loss… it would have hurt Kade to see it go. This was his special place, his remembrance to a time long ago. Dark forces had already come to his home and ruined it before… and they had tried again recently. He took a deep breath, he wasn’t sure what he should do about all of that.

Once Kade was done working outside he headed inside. He passed his friend Ava on the way to the shower. She asked if he could spare some more flowers for her bedroom. She kept them in a vase in the window. Or she normally did. He window was destroyed right now. She was sleeping in another room right now. He nodded and told her he could certainly spare some flowers. It was sad to see her without. She still wore her dresses, still looked in peak condition. A girl could love her flowers though. He wondered if Kotone liked flowers. He wasn’t actually sure. He would have to bring her some and find out. It would be worth it to put a smile on her face. Although he worried she would just be more uncomfortable than anything. He didn’t want that. Sometimes he felt like he was in danger of making her uncomfortable at all times. Perhaps they should just stick to sparing. A safe option for the two dragon slayers. He still wanted to bring her flowers, for whatever reason, but he could worry about that later. For now he just needed to get cleaned up and then work on anything that needed done around the guild hall while he was here.
